What is the Harrison Regional Library System?
The Harrison Regional Library System is eleven public libraries
in Shelby County, Alabama working together to provide excellent
library service to over 150,000 county residents. System
members honor one library card, share a collective database
of over 320,000 items, cooperate with storytelling services,
and participate in the Shelby Information Network.

How do I get a library card?
All you need is picture identification and/or documentation
showing your current Shelby County address. If you work
in Shelby County but don't live here, you can still get
a card by showing proof of employment within Shelby County.
Parents or guardians must sign for children under 18.

Can I use my card at all
twelve Shelby County Public Libraries?
Yes, your one card is honored at all Shelby County Public
Libraries. Each library has rules regarding fines, fees,
circulation periods, computer center access, and other library
services. Be sure to ask staff at each location about their
local guidelines.

How do I use the Computer Catalog?
You can click

What if I can't find what I need at the library?
You can ask the staff to request the items you need through
our Interlibrary Loan Service. We can get resources from
almost anywhere in the world!

You might qualify for the Books-By-Mail

Do you
have computers with Internet
access available to for public use?
Each Shelby County Public Library has public access computers.
All you need to use the computer centers is a valid Shelby
County Library card in good standing. Computer Centers software
and rules may vary slightly throughout the the county. Pick
up a copy of the Acceptable Use Policy from your neighborhood
library.

Do you
libraries have meeting rooms for public use?
Some Shelby County Public Library have public meeting
rooms. You must contact the library directly to inquire
about meeting rooms. Each library will have its own meeting
